Most animals purchased as Easter gifts die or are abandoned before their first birthday. Bunnies are a 10+ year commitment if treated right, and there are plenty in shelters waiting for loving homes. 

Although rabbits make fantastic pets (as good as a dog or cat) I would like to stress to people over the Easter period to think beyond Easter before they purchase a rabbit, they require daily care and can last over 10 years if cared for correctly. After Easter, rabbits just don't disappear, they are the third most abandoned animals in shelters.

Yeti decided it was warmer to stay indoors this weekend. There were deep snow drifts here in the UK.

Hop hop hop hop... Gangbun Style!

Yeti loves the feeling of freshly clipped nails. It's important to keep them short, as long nails can lead to health complications and expensive vet trips. Bunnies with long back nails can also get sore hocks as they are forced backwards onto their heels.

I always struggle clipping his nails as he does not tolerate being held for long periods of time. It is much easier with a second person, and I am thankful as he has clear nails that means the quick can be seen. I have clipped his nails myself before, but it can be difficult and stressful. Rather than stressing him out on a trip to the vets, Pendle Paws came to our house and cut them for me. They have a great service and offer excellent advice. As well as grooming, they also do pet sitting and dog walking.

Happy New Year! Welcome to 2013 everyone! What's your new year's resolution?

Mine is a secret.

Although I will tell you I am planning to open up the blog shop this year, so watch this space!
